Pablo Velazquez, 90, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2017. Pablo was born in Moca, Puerto Rico, where he was a successful sugar cane farmer. He moved to Boston in 1966, before settling in Brockton in 1987. Pablo had a great love for his grandchildren, showering them with affection and their favorite sweets, including the anticipated lollipop, Mary Janes and Squirrel Nuts. He was deeply devoted to his faith. Dedicated to his family, he enjoyed gardening, home maintenance, painting and working in his shed. He loved food and sharing meals with his loved ones, and always provided comedic entertaiment with his practical jokes. His legacy will live on forever through the many generations of his family. Pablo was the beloved husband of Gladys (Jimenez) Velazquez; loving father of Soraida Ferrer, Wilfredo Velazquez, Abelardo Velazquez, Elba L. Zayas, Zenaida Figueroa, Raynaldo Velazquez, Ruben Velazquez, Joel Velazquez, Yolanda Waldman, Orlando Velazquez and the late Pablo Velazquez Jr.; grandfather of 18; great-grandfather of 18; great-great grandfather of 1; brother of Valerio Velazquez; and an uncle of many. He was predeceased by a brother and sister. All are welcome to calling hours Sunday 2-6 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral service Monday at 10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
