William F. Powers, 82, of Brockton since 1965, died October 11, 2016. He was a graduate of South Boston High School. A sheet metal mechanic, he was a longtime "Tin Knocker" for the MBTA. Bill loved weekly trips to the track to feed the horses, and promising to double your money if you were willing to give it to him. A dedicated family man, he enjoyed time at home, playing Skat, doing crossword puzzles and watching T.V. Bill would often say "I love my girls". Bill was the beloved husband of Kathleen “Kay” (Ericz) Powers for 61 years; loving father of Sheryl Irvine and her husband Mike of Lakeville, Chuck Powers of Brockton, Sheila Cella and her husband John of Easton and the late Billy Powers; devoted grandfather of Kay Sullivan and her husband Marc, Angela Cella and Sabrina Cella, Amanda Dupre, Merri and Jeffrey Bennett; great-grandfather of Eva and Addie Sullivan; brother of June Douglas of Poway, CA and many late brothers and sisters; and an uncle of several nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral service Saturday at 10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
