John B. Thunberg, 77, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died peacefully surrounded by family at Brigham & Women’s Hospital on October 12, 2016 after a brief illness. A graduate of Auburn High School, he served in the U.S. Navy in Turkey and Scotland. Among his career ventures, he was a manager at Westgate and Brunswick Lanes, was a land surveyor for Daylor Consulting Group, and later worked at Thunberg Consulting for his son. John’s greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He loved all Boston sports, especially the Red Sox, lunches out, and an occasional game of Keno. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. John was the beloved husband of Margo (Signorini) Thunberg for 53 years; loving father of Jeanette DeWalters of Long Island, NY, Kirsten Svenson and her husband Ron of W. Bridgewater, and the late John Thunberg; adoring grandfather of Alex Thunberg of Miller Place, Long Island and Victoria, Olivia and Cameron Svenson, all of W. Bridgewater; brother of Jeffrey Thunberg of Florence, KY and the late Janet Wolfgang; and an uncle of Erik and Kurt Thunberg of Albuquerque, NM. Services are private.
