William T. Madden, Jr., 65, of Florida, formerly of Brockton and East Wareham, passed away suddenly on April 12, 2022.
William, known by Bill to family and friends, was born on February 28, 1957. He worked with the Roxbury, Brockton and West Palm Beach Veteran Administration Medical Centers over a more than 40 year career.
Bill loved gardening, especially growing orchids and was a director for the Tropical Orchid Society based in West Palm Beach, FL. He was previously an enthusiastic singer and a member of a choral society in Massachusetts. He also enjoyed fishing and would take many trips with friends. Bill loved to travel, spending much of his time taking cruises around the Caribbean.
After retiring in July 2021, Bill shared his desire to travel even more, saying it was “time to live my life with a compass and not a clock!” He recently returned from a 15-day cruise through the Southern Caribbean where he celebrated his 65th birthday with friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William T. and Beatrice (Bilodeau) Madden. He is survived by his sister, Linda Fountain of Middleboro, sister Karen Burns of Brockton, brother Stephen Madden of Carver, sister-in-law Janice Madden of Carver, brother-in-law David Fountain of Florida, brother-in-law Harry Burns of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to calling hours on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral Friday, April 22, 2022 from Waitt Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 163 N. Cary St., Brockton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
