William “Bib” Sylvia, 64, of Shapleigh, Maine, passed away on December 30th, 2023 at his home with his partner of 30 years, Susan Wallace by his side after battling a long illness. Bib was born on November 22, 1959 in Quincy, Massachusetts. He was raised in Holbrook and Brockton Massachusetts where he excelled in academics and hockey attending Holbrook High School and Boston College High School.
After high school he worked for various companies as a machinist in Massachusetts and Maine. He moved to Maine 23 years ago and enjoyed, fishing, clamming, cooking for family and friends, feeding his deer, taking care of his and his many friend’s dogs, and being with Suzy and all his beloved friends around Granny Kent Pond. He also loved every moment he got to spend with his children.
Bib was predeceased by his father Robert Sylvia and Mother Nancy J. “Morrison” Sylvia of Brockton, Massachusetts. He is survived by his 4 loving children: Eric Sylvia of Plymouth, Joshua and wife Shannon Sylvia of Plymouth, William Sylvia Jr. of Plymouth, and Kayti Sylvia and her fiancé Alex Auclair of Foxboro. He has 3 grandchildren, Finley, Kellyn, and Harper Sylvia. He has 7 siblings; Robert Sylvia Jr. of Virginia, Susan Weygand of Clearwater, Florida, David Sylvia of Largo, Florida, Richard Sylvia and his wife Kirsten of Fort Myers, Florida, Amy Sylvia of West Palm Beach, Florida, Christopher Sylvia and his wife Jennifer of Brockton, Massachusetts, and Joanne Hendrigan and her husband Robert Hendrigan Jr. of Brockton, Massachusetts. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with Susan Wallace and her extended family.
A celebration of Bib's life will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 12-1 p.m., with a 1 p.m. memorial service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, MA.
