William E. Pitts Jr.

William E. Pitts Jr., 82, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on March 18, 2020. Born in Quincy, a son of the late Florence (Veno) Pitts and William E. Pitts Sr., he was raised in Quincy and Weymouth and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth in 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. His work history began at Sarni’s at Weymouth Landing in his teens to Weymouth Art Leather to a career at BIW Cable Inc., retiring as a production manager. Bill was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic minister. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports and doing crossword puzzles. He was the beloved husband of Ellen F. (Cosgrove) Pitts for over 58 years, loving father of William Pitts III and his wife Karen of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Kathaleen and her husband Stephen Wallace of Chelmsford, and Mary and her husband William Bertocchi of Brockton, dear grandfather of Mark Pitts, Ryan, Craig and Colleen Wallace, and William Jr., Tyler, Isabella and Abigail Bertocchi; brother of Judy (Julia) Shaffer (and her late husband Lou Asci and her late husband Bob Shaffer), Bobby (Robert) Pitts and his wife Carol, Patty (Patricia) Schneider and her late husband Jackie (John) Schneider, Tommy Pitts and Patti Cavallaro, and the late Cindy Fimian and her husband Paul Fimian; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. His funeral is private but as soon as possible a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be announced.
