William Macomber Obituary

William Edward “Billy” Macomber, 73, of Brockton, passed away on July 20, 2025. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late William E. and Nora L. (McGrath) Macomber. A 1970 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, Billy served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He went on to graduate from Massasoit Community College and earned a degree in history from Bridgewater State University.

Billy worked for Hallmark doing in store set-ups and later worked in the custodial department at the V.A. Medical Center for many years until retirement. He enjoyed playing cribbage and watching old Western and war movies. He will be greatly missed.

Billy was the husband of the late Kathleen A. (Currivan) Macomber for 20 years until her passing in 2011; beloved father of Kevin and Shawn Macomber of Brockton, and stepfather of Kathleen Currivan of Tampa, Florida; loving brother of Noreen Fitzgibbons (and Donald Santos) of Bridgewater, Patricia Macomber of East Bridgewater, Susan Reardon (and James) of Sagamore Beach, and Michael Macomber (and Erika Franz) of Brockton; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours on Wednesday, August 6th from 5-8 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral from Waitt Funeral Home on Thursday, August 7th at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E. Main St., Brockton and burial at Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl St., Brockton.
