Wilbert (Wilbur) L. Farris, 87, of Raynham, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2024. Born in Washington, North Carolina, he was the son of the late John Wallace and Daisy (Lee) Best. Wilbur resided in Boston for many years before moving to Brockton in 1988, where he resided until moving to Raynham in 2000.
He was employed by Nabisco in Cambridge then was a custodian at Stonehill College for 23 years until retiring at the age of 73. Wilbur was an avid runner and enjoyed running several marathons, including Boston, New York, and Falmouth road races. Additionally, he enjoyed landscaping and gardening.
Wilbur was the beloved husband of Nilda (Adolfo) Farris for 45 years; loving father of Maria Lee and her husband Elden of Las Vegas, Joseph Farris, Marques Farris, James Farris, and the late Margarita Farris; dear grandfather of Valentina, Darien, Ronin, Merci, and Brylie; brother of Ann Thompson, Debra Best, Helen Best, Emma Michell, and Nathaniel Best, all of New York; close cousin of Eula Karamoko Farris and Gussie Brathwaite; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to calling hours Wed., Oct. 2nd from 4-7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, his funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Thurs., Oct. 3rd at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E. Main St., Brockton and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Live streaming of Wilbur's funeral will be available.
