Wesner Racine

Wesner Racine, 89, resident of Randolph, MA passed away on October 12, 2025. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones after battling an aggressive illness.

Wesner Racine known as “Ancien Racine” and to his loved ones as “Papi Wesnè” was born on September 30, 1936 in Belladère, a commune in the Lascahobas Arrondissement, located in the Centre department of Haiti. He was the youngest son of the late Cesar Racine and Julia Elie. He was a cherished brother to Joseph Racine, Julio Racine, Jean Robert Racine, Emmanuel Smith, Leonie Meteyer, Lidia Meteyer, Fernande St-Fort, Rose-Marie Racine, Adeline Mazarain, Marie Ange Smith.  

He attended Lycée Antenor Firmin in Belladère, after which he received training to become an agriculture technician. After his studies, Wesner worked as a Agriculture technician under the supervision of the Department of agriculture of the Republic of Haiti commonly known as Damien. For the majority of his career Wesner was stationed in the Centre department of Haiti with his homebase located at Baptiste a commune in the Lascahobas Arrondissement. He was known for his keen eye for structure, and an exemplary work ethic that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and supervisors. He fathered Roberte (Betty), Emilie, Harry, and Renette. In 1974, he was united in marriage to Raymonde (Paraison) Racine and this union blessed them with their daughter Guerline. Together they shared 51 years of love and companionship.

In search of more opportunities Wesner left Haiti and relocated to the United States in 1984.  Wesner experienced life through many adventures and lines of work. Tackling the hardship that most immigrants can relate to, he prevailed through hard work and disciplining himself. His work as a cruise ship worker and as a restaurateur allowed him to experience a rich life. 

Wesner enjoyed his vitality while being well in his 80’s and could often be overheard talking about people that were driving slowly on the road asking “Ki vye ti granmoun sa devan’m nan”. 

Although, the geopolitical situations of his home country Haiti, made his dreams of retiring to his home town Belladère impossible. In his last years he felt solace in knowing that his hard work offered the opportunity for a better life to his children and grandchildren.

Wesner was a respected leader and a mentor to those who wished to learn from him. At his home church Ben-Emmanuel SDA church he held more than once the honorable position of first Elder. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, shopping, riding his motorcycles and taking walks around town. He was known for his luxurious taste in clothing and technology, always upgrading his watches and his phones. 

Wesner is survived by his beloved wife Raymonde (Paraison) Racine; His children Roberte Michel Racine, Emilie Racine, Harry J. Racine, Guerline (Racine) William, and Renette Morette. His grandchildren; Jessica, Rhudji, Mitchell, Bedyamithka, Lynn, Sarah, Anie, Christy, Cedric, Keyla, Lensky, Jackson. And his great grandchildren Zora and Baby A.  

By his siblings; Leonie Meteyer, Fernande St-Fort, Rose-Marie Racine, Adeline Mazarain. His extended family; Michael William, Lussito  Apolon (Toto), Ady Smith, Darlie Smith, Mariline Smith, Hugue Joseph, Silotte Ravix, Antony Ravix, Mirline Ravix, Lomelle Ravix, Lens Ravix, Bob Ravix, Bermane Smith, Marie Carmelle Smith, Duclaire Smith, Preedger Smith.                    

He is preceded in death by his father Cesar Racine, his mother Julia Elie. His brothers; Joseph Racine, Julio Racine, Jean Robert Racine, Emmanuel Smith. His sisters; Lidia Meteyer.

Friends and family will remember him for his reserved personality and his willingness to remind everyone when they have crossed his boundaries. His sense of humor, often hidden in a serious tone followed by a smile full of warmth. His willingness to show up and celebrate his grandkids accomplishments.

 Il s’est éteint entouré de ses proches, après avoir courageusement combattu une maladie agressive.

Wesner Racine, connu sous le nom « Ancien Racine » et affectueusement appelé « Papi Wesnè » par ses proches, est né le 30 septembre 1936 à Belladère, une commune de l’arrondissement de Lascahobas, située dans le département du Centre, en Haïti.
 Il était le plus jeune fils de feu César Racine et de feu Julia Élie.
 Il fut un frère chéri de Joseph Racine, Julio Racine, Jean Robert Racine, Emmanuel Smith, Léonie Méteyer, Lidia Méteyer, Fernande St-Fort, Rose-Marie Racine, Adeline Mazarain, et Marie-Ange Smith.

Il a fréquenté le Lycée Anténor Firmin à Belladère, puis a suivi une formation pour devenir technicien agricole.
 Après ses études, Wesner a travaillé comme technicien agricole sous la supervision du Ministère de l’Agriculture de la République d’Haïti, communément appelé Damien.
 Durant la majeure partie de sa carrière, il fut affecté dans le département du Centre, avec son poste principal situé à Baptiste, une commune de l’arrondissement de Lascahobas.
 Il était reconnu pour son sens aigu de la structure et son éthique de travail exemplaire, qui lui ont valu le respect et l’admiration de ses collègues et supérieurs.

Il fut le père de Roberte (Betty), Émilie, Harry, et Renette.
 En 1974, il a uni sa vie à Raymonde (Paraison) Racine, et de cette union est née leur fille Guerline. Ensemble, ils ont partagé 51 années d’amour et de complicité.

À la recherche de meilleures opportunités, Wesner quitta Haïti pour s’installer aux États-Unis en 1984. Il y a vécu de nombreuses aventures et exercé divers métiers.
 Comme beaucoup d’immigrants, il a affronté les difficultés de l’adaptation avec courage, discipline et persévérance. Son travail sur les navires de croisière ainsi que son expérience en tant que restaurateur lui ont permis de mener une vie riche et pleine d’expériences.

Même dans sa quatre-vingtaine, Wesner profitait pleinement de sa vitalité.
 On l’entendait souvent plaisanter à propos des conducteurs lents sur la route, disant :

« Ki vye ti granmoun sa devan’m nan ? »

Bien que la situation géopolitique de son pays natal ait rendu impossible son rêve de retraite à Belladère, il trouvait du réconfort en sachant que son travail acharné avait offert à ses enfants et petits-enfants la possibilité d’une vie meilleure.

Wesner fut un leader respecté et un mentor pour tous ceux qui souhaitaient apprendre de lui.
 Au sein de son église, Ben-Emmanuel SDA, il occupa à plusieurs reprises la position honorable de Premier Ancien.
 Il aimait la chasse, la randonnée, le magasinage, les promenades en moto, et ses balades en ville.
 Il était connu pour son goût raffiné, son amour du luxe, et son intérêt constant pour la technologie, changeant souvent de montre et de téléphone.

Wesner laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée Raymonde;
 ses enfants Roberte Michel Racine, Émilie Racine, Harry J. Racine, Guerline (Racine) William, et Renette Morette;
 ses petits-enfants : Jessica, Rhudji, Mitchell, Bedyamithka, Lynn, Sarah, Anie, Christy, Cedric, Keyla, Lensky, et Jackson;
 ainsi que ses arrière-petits-enfants Zora et Baby A.

Il laisse également dans le deuil ses sœurs Léonie Méteyer, Fernande St-Fort, Rose-Marie Racine, et Adeline Mazarain;
 ainsi que sa grande famille élargie : Michael William, Lussito Apolon (Toto), Ady Smith, Darlie Smith, Mariline Smith, Hugue Joseph, Silotte Ravix, Antony Ravix, Mirline Ravix, Lomelle Ravix, Lens Ravix, Bob Ravix, Bermane Smith, Marie Carmelle Smith, Duclaire Smith, et Preedger Smith.

Il a été précédé dans la mort par son père César Racine, sa mère Julia Élie,
 ses frères Joseph Racine, Julio Racine, Jean Robert Racine, Emmanuel Smith,
 et sa sœur Lidia Méteyer.

Ses amis et sa famille se souviendront de lui pour sa personnalité réservée, son intégrité, et sa franchise bienveillante lorsqu’il fallait rappeler les limites.
 Son humour discret, souvent dissimulé derrière un ton sérieux, suivi par un sourire plein de chaleur. Il sera également rappelé pour sa présence fidèle lors des réussites et célébrations de ses enfant et petits-enfants, toujours fier de leurs accomplissements.
