Walter K. Skrycki, 94, passed away on January 26, 2019 with his three daughters by his side. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Tec 4 with the 79th Infantry Division during World War II. He stormed Utah beach and fought the Battle of the Bulge as well as campaigns in the Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. Walter transitioned to the Metropolitan District Police where he was a mounted police officer servicing the Blue Hills Reservation, and later retiring as a state police trooper. Walter is preceded in death by his wife Amelia, his sister Veronica, and brother Anthony (Tony). He leaves his daughters Rosemary Capuano, Barbara Skrycki, and Donna Dosik; grandsons David Gregor and Michael Gregor, along with his great grandchildren Mark Gregor, Amelia Gregor, Hudson Gregor, and Charlotte Gregor. Walter was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing along the coast of Scituate. All are welcome to gather on Thursday, Jan. 31st at 11 a.m. for an 11:45 a.m. prayer service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Veteran’s Medical Center, Attn: Recreation Dept., 940 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301.
