Virginia M. (Bertram) Olsen, 79, of Avon for over 40 years, passed away peacefully December 31, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 8, 1941 in Dorchester to the late Herman and Cora (Mellor) Bertram in Dorchester, she was raised in the Boston area and considered Randolph her hometown. Virginia loved cruises and travel with her longtime girlfriends. She loved to meet new people which is why she loved her club car job on Amtrak where she left a lasting impression on everyone she met with her big dimpled smile, quick wit, & one-liners. She was the devoted wife of the late Frederick W Olsen Sr., beloved mother of William of Boston, Cheryl of Brockton, and the late Frederick Jr.; loving Nana of Brittany Olsen and Olivia Hawes; dear sister of Rita Hall of Avon, Eileen Carey of Attleboro, Dorothy Brusco of Norwood, the late James and John Bertram; and the funny aunt of many nieces & nephews. The Olsen family would like to make a special acknowledgment to the caring staff at Brockton Hospital who showed such compassion and empathy. All are welcome to calling hours Tues. (1/5/21) from 4-8 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N Main St. Brockton; her funeral Wed. (1/6/21) at Waitt Funeral Home at 11 a.m., her funeral Mass at 12 noon at St. Michael's Church, Avon and burial at Central Cemetery, Randolph. Memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
