Virginia Child Obituary

Virginia A. “Ginny” (Lawson) Child, 79, a lifelong resident of the Campello section Brockton, died October 17, 2021. She had worked in many departments at Shawmut Bank in Brockton for several years; and enjoyed bingo and bowling, Red Sox games, watching sports and Facebook reminiscing posts.

Ginny was the beloved fiancée of John D. Perry for almost 50 years; loving mother of Richard I. Child (and Priscilla Sweet) of Brockton, Karen L. Sampson (and Joe Green) of Pittsfield, N.H., Sandra A. White (and her husband Brian V. White) of Leominster, and the late Michael J. Child and his widow Mary Anne Child of East Bridgewater; grandmother of Megan McNiff, Michael Child, Ryan Child, Jessica Child, Christopher Sampson, Kaylyn Sampson, Mark Swinimer, and Lee White; great-grandmother of Belle Sampson, Brennan McNiff, and Riley McNiff; sister of Jean Lemasa, Janet LaRue, John Lawson, and the late Milton “Joe” Lawson; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours Thursday Oct. 21 from 4-7 p.m. and her funeral Friday Oct. 22 at 10 a.m., all at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. Those wishing, memorial gifts may be made to Wounded Warriors.
