Victor Wellington Obituary

Victor Arnold Delisle Wellington, affectionately known to family and friends as "Vic," was born in Christ Church Parish, Barbados, on August 18, 1944, to Arnold "Gordon" Randolph Wellington and Kathleen Roach Wellington. His official records list his birth date as September 8, 1944, but August 18 was the day his life's journey truly began.

Victor spent his childhood and formative years in Barbados, where he received his early education at Grade XII Boys' Foundation. At the age of 18, he embarked upon a journey that would take him far beyond the shores of his beloved Barbados when he enlisted in the British Army.

During his military career, Victor served with distinction in the Royal Armoured Corps, rising to the rank of Corporal and earning high praise from his superiors for his service, character, and dedication. He completed six years of active service followed by three years in the reserves, for a total of nine years of service. While living in England, Victor continued his education, completing two years of study at East Ham Technical College, and also became a Freemason.

Victor's life would ultimately span several countries and communities. From his beginnings in Barbados, his journey took him to the United Kingdom, later to Canada, and eventually to Boston, Massachusetts, where he made his home.

Throughout his life, Victor was no stranger to hard work. He held numerous jobs over the years and carried with him the discipline, determination, and strong work ethic that had been shaped by his upbringing and military service. Among his professional accomplishments, Victor served as a Deputy Sheriff at the Suffolk County House of Correction, where his dedication and leadership were recognized with a promotion to Sergeant within his first year. No matter where life took him or what work he was doing, he understood the importance of perseverance and providing for those he loved.

Beyond his accomplishments and the many places he called home, Victor valued the moments he was able to spend with family and friends. Those times of togetherness became an important part of a life that stretched across countries, generations, and countless experiences.

Victor was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arnold "Gordon" Randolph Wellington and Kathleen Roach Wellington, as well as his brother, Lester O'Brien Wellington.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and beloved wife, Hazel Wellington, who shared his life, stood faithfully by his side, and will forever hold the love and memories they created together; his brother, Charles Wellington; his children, Sharone Wellington-DeAnda, Donna Wellington, Victoria Wellington, Kathy-ann (Alery) Johnson, Kathleen Wellington-Harris (RSha), Victor Jr. (Mutita) Wellington, Jerome Wellington, Alicia Glenn, Javonne Wellington, and Markus Wellington; and his stepchildren, Michelle (Ian) Belgrave and Earlene (Shawn) Sealy, who lovingly knew him as "Pops."

Victor's legacy continues through his large and loving family, including his 22 grandchildren: Miles Wellington-DeAnda, Victoria Wellington-DeAnda, Elixandra Wellington, Natalia Allen, Andre Johnson, Keyon Johnson, Amaya Johnson, RJuwan Harris, Alisha Harris, Zya Wellington, Hunter Wellington, Scarlett Wellington, Jerome Wellington Jr., Justice Wellington, Royalty'Lorna Wellington, Khalil Glenn, Khorey Glenn, Kaleb Glenn, Willie Furr, Logan Queensborough, David-Earl Belgrave, and Jonathon-Kerr Belgrave.

He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Malcolm Wellington-DeAnda, Zion Wellington-Dent, Kaylani Johnson, Natalia Johnson, Marcel Harris, and Milani Harris. Victor will also be lovingly remembered by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

From a young boy growing up in Barbados, to a soldier serving in the British Army, to a hardworking man who built a life across the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States, Victor's journey was one marked by service, determination, resilience, and family. His greatest legacy can be seen in the generations that came after him - a family whose roots stretch across countries, yet remain forever connected through him. His name, his story, and the lessons of his life will continue through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for generations to come.
