Veronica (Ivanauskas) Bizinkauskas, 93, of Brockton, passed away on October 31, 2024. A native of South Boston, she was the daughter of the late Adolfas and Veronica (Kraunelyte) Ivanauskas. Veronica was a graduate and president of the last class of Carney Hospital School of Nursing and had a lengthy career as a registered nurse. She was the director of nursing at St. Joseph Manor, night supervisor at Paul Dever School, and also worked for Phaneuf Hospital. Over the years, she worked as a camp nurse at Camp Neringa in Vermont and Lithuanian Scout Camp.
Veronica maintained early childhood friendships into her 90’s. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Casimir Church, where she was active for many years and returned to her own parish of St. Peter Lithuanian Church in South Boston after St. Casimir Church closed. Proud of her Lithuanian heritage, Veronica was a founding member of Lithuanian folk-dance Samburis Dancers and an honorary member of Knights of Lithuania Council One. She taught egg-decorating and enjoyed celebrating Christmas Eve traditions, Kucios meals were prepared by Knights Of Lithuania Council One and served at our Lady of Sorrows Convent.
Veronica was the wife of the late Dr. Peter A. Bizinkauskas; beloved mother of Peter Bizinkauskas (and Charlene) of Duxbury, Maryte Bizinkauskas (and Elias Papadopoulos) of Brockton, Dr. Paul Bizinkauskas (and Christine) of Marstons Mills, Veronica Cote (and Philip) of Marstons Mills, and the late Andrew Bizinkauskas; loving grandmother of Peter Charles Bizinkauskas (and Chelsea), Jeffrey Bizinkauskas, Vilija Bizinkauskas, Paul Bizinkauskas, Marissa Bizinkauskas, Holly Bizinkauskas, Alexsandra Cote-Black (and Matthew), Veronica Genevieve Cote, Maxwell Cote, Kamile Ivanauskas, and the late Luke Bizinkauskas; great-grandmother of Charles, Alice, Harrison, and Theodore Bizinkauskas; sister of Sr. Helen Ivanauskas, C.J.C. and the late Vytas Ivanauskas.
All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday, November 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, her funeral Thursday, November 7th from Waitt Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m., her funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Convent Chapel, 261 Thatcher St., Brockton. Burial to follow in the Convent Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Knights of Lithuania Charities.
