Valerie Josephine (Kavalauskas) Kearney, of Wrentham, formerly of Brockton and East Bridgewater, entered into eternal life on June 3, 2024. On that day heaven gained an expert gardener with the addition of Valerie to the “Angel Garden Crew”. The seeds she planted in those who knew and loved her will continue to grow and flourish forever.
Valerie was born to Lithuanian immigrant parents Luke and Ona on November 1, 1926 and was raised on a farm in Brockton where she developed her love of gardening and all things related to nature. Blessed with a green thumb she tended to her gardens up to as recently as last summer.
She was also a wonderful cook and an excellent baker and was known for her exceptional pies that were beyond compare. She enjoyed ceramics, taught classes for friends at her home and created items still treasured to this day.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceded in death by her husband Thomas F. Kearney, her daughter Valerie J. Heneghan (Silva) and her son Thomas L. Kearney. She leaves behind 2 daughters, Susan Zaleznick (Edward) of Wrentham and Eileen Cardella (David Dupont) of Easton, daughter-in-law Margaret (Regan) Kearney of Brockton; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Valerie had most recently resided at All American Assisted Living in Wrentham where she gained many new “cronies” as she liked to call them. She was blessed to be cared for by an exceptional team of caregivers while there. She had her “favorites” including Hailey whom she loved and always brightened Valerie’s day and made her smile.
The family would also like to thank members of Ascend Hospice and Senior Helpers who provided exceptional care and support during Valerie’s last few weeks. Her family will be forever grateful.
All are welcome to calling hours Sunday June 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and her funeral Monday June 10 at 9 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home and funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Avon.
