Thomas Norman Sampson of North Easton, MA died December 25 at Brockton Hospital following an extended period of failing health. He was 81 years old.

Following his graduation from Dartmouth College, where he participated in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the 1st Infantry Division and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1967.

He was active in his hometown in many endeavors as a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Brockton; Paul Revere Lodge A.F. & A.M., serving on the permanent fund committee; a founding member and past president of the Brockton Historical Society; a board member of the former Community Co-operative Bank (Campello); past president of the Wales Home Foundation; past president of Brockton’s Pettee-Chace Scholarship Foundation and former co-chairman of the Brockton Public Library Building Fund. He was also a past president of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association.
Golf, bridge, gardening, reading, and—most importantly—family, were his favorite pastimes.
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Jonathan and his wife Kristen of Dover, MA; Benjamin and his wife Tatiana Pavela of Chicago, IL; Rebecca McDonough and her husband Sean of Taunton, MA; and Elisabeth Kreydieh and her husband Ahmad of Rye, NY.
