Teresa Ann (Gilligan) Stapleton

Teresa Ann (Gilligan) Stapleton, 80, of Brockton for the past 28 years, formerly of Quincy, passed away on June 22, 2024. Born in Gort, Galway, Ireland, to the late Michael and Evelyn (Nally) Gilligan, Teresa worked at Carney Health Care for many years as an aide. She was devoted to her family and her home and enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to Castle Island with her beloved husband and best friend, Patrick. Teresa cherished her trips back home to Ireland, where she visited with family and friends.

She loved catching up and sharing photos with her grandchildren and children, finding immense joy in these moments. Spending time with her best friend Ann Gargiulo, reminiscing about the old days with Irish music playing in the background, was something she treasured dearly.

Teresa was the beloved wife of Patrick F. Stapleton for 59 years; the loving mother of Kathleen Stapleton of Quincy, Noreen Lyons and her partner Edward Sheehan of Quincy, Thomas Stapleton of Avon, and Brenda Lee and her husband Daniel of Holbrook. She was the dear grandmother of Courtney Lyons, Christina Lyons, and Patrick Lee. Teresa was the cherished sister of Mary Nally of Franklin, MA, and Helen Diviney, Josephine Farrell, and Geraldine Gilligan, all of Ireland, and the late Bernadette Mulcair. She was also a beloved aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Teresa will be deeply missed and cherished by her family and friends. Following cremation, all are welcome to memorial calling hours on Monday July 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton.
