Sylvio Louis, 73, recently of Brockton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 12, 2024. Sylvio was born in Morne Michel, Haiti to the late Anestil Louis and Horacia Houpette. He immigrated to the United States in 1983, living in New York, Georgia, Connecticut, and Florida before moving to Massachusetts to be closer to family. Sylvio worked as a taxicab driver for many years until his retirement.
Sylvio enjoyed a quiet simple life, surrounded by family and close friends. He was reserved in nature, but when he spoke he captivated the attention of everyone in the room. His strength and bravery were unmatched and there wasn’t any challenge he didn’t face head on. From friendly competitiveness during soccer games with his brother to checker games with his children, he loved time spent with his dear ones. He enjoyed preparing delicious meals for everyone and his departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Sylvio was the husband of Marie Michele Mignone; father of Jean Bernard Sveson Louis, Anne Emmanuel Louis, Evrardine Louis, James Louis, and Lynn J. Louis; grandfather of Gabrielle Renay Tapper, Gavin Xavier Tapper, Stefan Henry Louis, Adriano Victor Louis, Latica Keysha Louis, Meya Rose Louis, Gabriella Hope Louis, Lathan Mezeki Holness, and Liam Jakuta Dunbar; brother of Marcel Louis, Prophete Charistil Louis, Saintil Louis, and Solange Louis; and an uncle of Marckline Semenard Louis, Murielle Jean François Louis, Rose Lyse Marie Carmelle Louis, Christine Joseph Louis, Danielle Louis, Rosmie Louis, Pierre Antoine Louis, Andy Louis, and Rodney Louis.
All are welcome to visitation on Friday, November 22nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private interment. Live streaming of Sylvio’s service will be available.
