Stewart T. Mitchelson

Stewart T. Mitchelson, 83, of Avon passed away on April 22, 2022 after a brief illness.  Born in Bath, Maine he was the son of the late Thomas and Frances (Losier) Mitchelson and brother of the late Bruce Mitchelson. He graduated from Braintree High School in 1956 and went on to earn two degrees in Engineering from Northeastern University.  He also served in the U.S. Navy. Before retiring, Stew had a successful career as a cost scheduling engineer at several large, local engineering firms.

Stew was a devoted husband to Olga for 54 years, dedicated father to Mark, Alexandra and his son-in-law Brian, and doting grandfather to Helen, Charlotte, Evelyn and Andrew. He was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, spending many years serving both on the church council and in the church choir. He was a Mason, maintaining a membership with the St. George Lodge for 50 years. Stew loved a round of golf, a cold beer, a good joke, Steely Dan and Dave Brubeck, delivering sprinkled doughnuts to his grandkids, and spending time in the company of family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 906 North Main Street, Brockton, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Old Colony Hospice.
