Shirley F. (MacFarlane) Nolan, 83, of Avon for over 50 years, passed away Sept. 12, 2018 after failing health. Native of Roxbury, she was devoted to her family and home. After working part-time at Avon Public Library, she was retired from a career in bookkeeping for Callahan Construction. Shirley was an active communicant of St. Michael Church in Avon, donating her crocheted creations to the Bazaar/Craft Fair, working the baked goods table there, teaching CCD and serving as a member of Ladies Sodality. She was the beloved wife of John T. Nolan for 56 years; loving mother of Lisa M. Gregory and her husband David of Whitman and John T. Nolan and his wife Cheryl of Brockton; dear grandmother of Samantha Gregory; sister of Katherine Ann Doolan of Prospect CT, Myrna White and her husband Frank of Braintree, Joseph MacFarlane and his wife Donna of Hull, Donald MacFarlane and his wife Elizabeth of Meredith NH, and the late Doris and Bernice MacFarlane; and an aunt of several nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Sunday 1-4 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, her funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Monday at 9 a.m., funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church and burial at St. Michael Cemetery, both in Avon.
