Shawn D. Ryan, 61, of Quincy, passed away March 12, 2025. Born in Medford, he was raised in Brockton's North side, graduated from Brockton High School in 1981, and earned a bachelor's degree from Bridgewater State College. Shawn was a mortgage broker at Continental Funding in Stoughton for over 25 years.
He was passionate about music, a dedicated Red Sox fan, and enjoyed playing golf. With his big personality, Shawn was a great storyteller, a competitive game-player, and a trivia connoisseur. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with others, especially his family, and will be remembered for his lively presence and love for those around him.
Shawn was the son of Mary Ellen (Murphy) Ryan of Easton and the late Patrick T. Ryan; father of Megan Bartel (and her husband Cullan) of East Taunton and John "Jack" Ryan of Taunton; grandfather of Bennett and Calvin Bartel; brother of Christine Reardon (and the late Kevin) of Stoughton, and Tricia Bath (and Jamie) of Charlestown, Tim Ryan (and Sue) of Florida, Maureen Cullinane (and Timothy) of Swampscott and the late Kathleen Ryan, Michael and Dennis Ryan; former husband of June (DeMarco) Ryan; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to memorial calling hours Sunday March 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, his funeral Monday March 24 at 8:30 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home, funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase St. in South Easton and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton.
