Serge Belizaire Obituary

Serge Jean Belizaire, 82, of Brockton, passed away on March 7, 2024. Born in Petit-Goâve, Haiti, he was the son of the late Occilias and Elina (Anesca) Belizaire. Serge immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in Massachusetts. He accomplished so much in his eighty-two years of life.

Serge was a dynamic person and his interests varied greatly. He was a skilled furniture maker, knowledgeable vegetable gardener, and sang and played the guitar beautifully. Serge was truly a jack of all trades. He worked for General Dynamics for 15 years as a shipbuilder, pipe fitter, and carpenter. He later proudly co-owned B&B Transportation with his nephew Enrick Bazile for many years until his retirement.

Serge was a complex person who cared deeply for his family and others. His legacy is one of wisdom, perseverance, hard work, and love. Well done, may you now rest peacefully with the angels.

Serge was the partner of the late Gessie Delva (brother in law to Roselyne Delva); beloved father of Magalie (Belizaire) Pinney and Jude A. Belizaire, both of Brockton, Mario Jules of Haiti, and the late Marie Emmanuella Macather of Haiti; loving grandfather of many; cherished brother of Jean Guy Belizaire of Brockton and the late Marie Simonde (Belizaire) Jeanty, Jacqueline (Belizaire) Bazile, and Inez Belizaire; uncle of Joseph Fritz Bazile, Enrick Bazile, Marie José Bazile, Philippe Bazile, Rodly B. Andre, Marie Myrtho B. Bonhomme, Caius Bazile, Sandra B. Levasseur, Berthe Bazile, Marie Carmelle Bazile, Jean Roland Bazile, Paulette Bazile, Marko Bazile, Willy Jn-Francois, Edwidge Belizaire Ambroise, Guerda Belizaire, Myrlande B.  Nelson, Andre Jeanty, Hanchy Sajille, Max R. Jeanty, Patrick Belizaire, Jude Belizaire, and the late Berthny Jeanty and Ronald Bazile, and their families.

All are welcome to calling hours Thursday, March 21st from 5-8 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private burial at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Live streaming of Serge’s wake service will be available. In lieu of flowers, gifts and donations can be made to his children for Serge's house fund.

Family and friends are welcome to a repast immediately following the wake service: Brockton Temple Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 235 Court St., Brockton, MA 02302.

WISDOM 3:1-9

But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and no torment will ever touch them.
In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died,
and their departure was thought to be an affliction,
and their going from us to be their destruction;
but they are at peace.
For though in the sight of men they were punished,
their hope is full of immortality.
Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good,
because God tested them and found them worthy of himself;
like gold in the furnace he tried them,
and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them.
In the time of their visitation they will shine forth,
and will run like sparks through the stubble.
They will govern nations and rule over peoples,
and the Lord will reign over them for ever.
Those who trust in him will understand truth,
and the faithful will abide with him in love,
because grace and mercy are upon his elect,
and he watches over his holy ones.

Farewell My Friends

Farewell My Friends
It was beautiful
As long as it lasted
The journey of my life.
I have no regrets
Whatsoever said
The pain I’ll leave behind.
Those dear hearts
Who love and care...
And the strings pulling
At the heart and soul...
The strong arms
That held me up
When my own strength
Let me down.
At the turning of my life
I came acrossGood friends,
Friends who stood by me
Even when time raced me by.
Farewell, farewell My friends
I smile and
Bid you goodbye.
No, shed no tears
For I need them not
All I need is your smile.
If you feel sad
Do think of me
For that’s what I’ll like
When you live in the hearts
Of those you love
Remember then
You never die.
