Selwyn E. “Shoes” Alleyne, 73, of Brockton, passed away on December 26, 2021. Born in San Fernando, Trinidad, he was a son of the late George L. and Mavis (Taylor) Alleyne. Upon immigrating to the United States, Selwyn resided in Boston, Braintree, and Randolph before moving to Brockton in 2018.
Hardworking, he had been employed by Longwood Security for 37 years. Selwyn was proud of his culture and enjoyed calypso and steelpan music and loved Trinidadian cuisine. He was a dedicated family man and treasured the time spent with them, he also loved his pets. Selwyn was a talented soccer player, garnering the nickname “Shoes” because of his skilled footwork.
Selwyn was the beloved husband of Mary (Crawford) Alleyne for 45 years; loving father of Donnell N. Alleyne of Brockton; cherished brother of Lincoln Alleyne of Florida, Claudia “Gemma” Alleyne of Dorchester, and the late Carl Alleyne, John Alleyne, and Glen Alleyne; and a dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to memorial calling hours Thursday, December 30th from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with a 12 p.m. memorial service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Live streaming of Selwyn’s service will begin at 11 a.m. Face masks are required for all attendees.
