Scott F. Bonito Obituary

Scott Francis Bonito, 50, a proud resident of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2026.

Scott leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories with Nicole J. Holmes, the love of his life and the person who was truly the heart outside of his chest for the past 27 years. His memory will live on through his daughter, Lexi Sharee; his son(s) Kyle Scott; Steven George, his nephew who became a son in every way that mattered and his son by love, Dylan. “Gramps” will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren, Izabel Nancy and Lukas Scott, and his grandson by love, Kai Joshua.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Taylor, and will be deeply missed by his father, Bert Bonito; his brothers, Shawn and Austin Bonito; and the many aunts, uncles, cousins, derby mates, and coworkers who became family along the way. He was especially loved and respected by the people he worked alongside at GVW, where he proudly worked as a foreman for the past 20+ years. Each of these people held a special place in Scott’s heart.

Scott had a true love for the demolition derby. Whether he was building cars alongside Team Hammer Time in the garage or sitting behind the wheel with his family cheering him on from the stands, the derby brought him a kind of happiness that was hard to describe. He loved every part of it—the thrill, the build, the anticipation, and the excitement of getting ready for the next race. Although he could spend hours working on a derby car, somehow there was always time for a beer, a story, and a few laughs along the way. And while Scott loved the derby, his family loved watching him do what he loved even more.

Above all else, Scott’s greatest joy was his family. He lived for the weekends when everyone was together at the house, whether that meant having Nerf battles, playing Barbies, singing songs, or sitting around the table reminiscing about funny memories. He loved hearing the kids’ stories and couldn’t wait to see his friends so he could tell them all the wild things the twins had said that week. His family brought out his biggest smile, and being a dad and grandfather was one of the roles he cherished most.

As his children grew older and life became a little bit quieter, Scott was able to enjoy more quality time with his beloved Nicole—the love of his life and the person he did it all for. The two enjoyed taking weekend trips, sightseeing, discovering the best local restaurants, and making memories wherever they went. And, of course, whenever the Boston Celtics were playing at home, they made sure to catch a date night.

September 25th will forever be both the day his life was celebrated and the day we lost him.

Scott’s passing was sudden and without warning leaving behind a family and community struggling to understand how someone so full of life could be gone so quickly. His chair may be empty, his voice may be quiet, and his phone may never ring again—but his stories, his laughter, and the memories he gave us will be carried forward by everyone lucky enough to have loved him.
