Samuel M. Owens III, 75, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2023. Born in Salem, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Samuel M. Owens Jr. and Florence (Wright) Owens. He served in the U.S. Navy, living in Holy Loch, Scotland for a year and a half and was a proud member of the Tin Can Sailors.
A master pipe fitter, he worked for Hollingsworth & Vose in Walpole for 38 years until his retirement. After his retirement, Samuel did volunteer work at local food pantries and animal shelters for many years. He enjoyed fly fishing, visiting with family and friends, and was a train and model train enthusiast.
Samuel was the beloved husband of Sharon M. (Murphy) Owens; loving father of AnnMarie Knowlton and her husband Michael of Lisbon, Maine and Samuel M. Owens IV and his wife Trina of S. Weymouth; dear grandfather of Maranda Lycette and her husband Derick, Brooke Eveson, Owen Eveson, and Bailey Eveson; and a great-grandfather of Liam, Luke, James, Arianna, and Harper.
