Ruth L. (Barnard) Foster, 95, of Brockton, passed away on August 15, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Morse) Barnard. Ruth was a cook at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton for 18 years until her retirement. Dedicated to her faith, she was a member of United Methodist Church on Pearl St. for over 60 years.
Ruth’s laughter was infectious, and she was a joy to be around. She loved bowling and yearly visits to Green Harbor Motor Inn in Falmouth, where she would vacation from August through October. The mention of ice cream sundaes would bring a smile to her face, and she enjoyed dining at Friendly’s with family and friends.
Ruth was the wife of the late Arnold J. Foster; beloved mother of Steven Foster of Brockton, John Foster (and Tina) of Weymouth, Brian Foster (and Donna) of Taunton, Diane Flansburg (and Paul) of Lakeville, and the late Michael J. Foster; loving grandmother of 7 and great-grandmother of 11; sister of Barbara Brogle and her late husband Richard of Middleboro, and the late Dorothy May, Richard, Paul, Robert, and Francis Barnard, and Gloria Godsoe; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews. Ruth also leaves her two best friends Donna Aloisi and Shirley Makepeace.
All are welcome to calling hours Monday, August 26th from 8-10 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. celebration of life in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, and burial at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
