Rosemarie (Lazaro) Gonsalves, 78, of Brockton, passed away on August 4, 2024. Born in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Mary T. (Santos) Graca and Fernando G. “Randy” (DeGrace) Graca. She worked in social services for many years.
Rosie was the epitome of what a matriarch is. She led by example and always with love and respect for others. She was thoughtful and never forgot a birthday, making each person in her family feel like they were special. Rosie was a great cook and was known for her traditional Cape Verdean rice dish “jag”. Family time was important to her, and she loved the time spent with her grandchildren.
When not working or spending time with her large family, Rosie enjoyed trips to the casino, bingo, traveling, shopping, and dining out with her friends. Her sudden passing has left a void, but her memory will live on through pictures, stories, and the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Rest well, sweet Rosie.
Rosie was the beloved mother of Stanley G. Gonsalves Jr., Keith M. Gonsalves (Jillian), and Craig D. Gonsalves (Johna), all of Brockton, and the late Kevin M. Gonsalves; dear sister of Fernando “Freddy” Graca of Brockton; loving grandmother of Kayla, Kevin Jr., Keith, Janell, Jordan, Chastity, Sabrina, Devin, Taia, Jasmin, Angel, Anthony, Alexis, and Amalia; and great-grandmother of Jase, Amari, Kyla, Makai, Keith Jr., Dahlia, and Jordan Jr. Rosie also leaves many additional family members to mourn her passing.
All are welcome to calling hours Monday, August 12th from 9:30 -11:30 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. funeral service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl St., Brockton. Reception to be held at the Enterprise Club, 224 Clinton St., Brockton.
