Roger H. Vaughan Jr.

Roger H. Vaughan Jr., 80, of Avon, passed away on July 5, 2021. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Roger H. and Hope D. (Judson) Vaughan. Roger enjoyed traveling to new places with family, embarking on adventures and watching Red Sox games. He enjoyed going on land and sea tours of Alaska and Hawaii, lighthouse and foliage tours of New England, catching the CapeFLYER Train, the turkey train in New Hampshire, and enjoyed day train trips to the Philadelphia Zoo. Roger enjoyed listening to bluegrass and gospel music, as well as watching the animal wildlife while traveling. In addition to traveling widely, Roger would also take bus trips with the Avon Council on Aging and Barb’s Bus Trips. He had worked at the Toll House Restaurant, Lucy Shoe Factory, and was a butcher for Shaw’s and Stop & Shop.

Beloved husband of the late Helen C. (Fitzgerald), who was known for her kind work through the church and giving back to the community; loving father of Andrew and the late Susan Vaughan; and the dear brother of Janet Vaughan and her fiancé Jay of Middleboro.

All are welcome to calling hours Wed., July 14th from 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral from Waitt Funeral Home on Thurs., July 15th at 11 a.m., funeral Mass at 12 noon in St. Michael Church, Avon. Burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Avon Council on Aging, Avon Civic Association, St. Michael Church, or the Avon Fire Department.
