Roger R. Matte, 81, of Brockton, passed away Jan. 26, 2024. Born in Lowell he was raised in Dracut and attended Lowell Tech. Roger served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. His interest in woodcrafting and building boats led to his ownership of Pine Craft Signs & Graphics in Brockton for over 45 years. He specialized in hand-carved residential, business and community signs. In recent years he was known for his custom wooden flag creations.
Roger was the beloved husband of Marlene C. (Hirl) Matte for 50 years, loving father of Roger Matte (& Jennifer) of Florida, Thomas Matte (& Janet) of New Hampshire, David Matte (& Judy) of New York, and the late Jonathan Matte (& Samantha of Easton); brother of Richard Matte (& Donna) of New Hampshire and Don Matte (& Rose) of Assonet; he also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Following cremation, all are welcome to his memorial calling hours Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by his memorial service at 1 p.m. with military honors, all at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton.
