Robert A. Nickerson, 88, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2025. He was born on February 21, 1937 to Clifford and Mildred Schell Nickerson in Boston, MA. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, DE in 1955. He was a man who wore many hats. In his 20's he was enlisted in the National Guard for 6 years and was honorably discharged.
He leaves behind his loving wife Dianne of 41 years. He was the proud father of two sons Russell A. Nickerson and predeceased Robert "Rob" M. Nickerson, survived by his wife Karen; two grandchildren Alycia Falcone (Chris ) and Jared Nickerson; four great-grandchildren Shelby, Aubree, Karlee, and Vincent.
Bob had a steady work history and held supervisory positions in micrographics at GE, Spaulding, Wang, and Raytheon. He worked 21 years in the engineering documentation department at Nova Biomedical where he retired at the age of 80. There he made many lifelong friends.
His favorite pastime was vegetable gardening, he loved to grow tomatoes and give them away. Bob enjoyed traveling, Sunday drives with Dianne, reading mysteries, making structures for his model train set, and was handy with home repairs.
Being the oldest of 6, he leaves behind Ruth Palo, Sue Liberty, Maryann Nickerson, step-sister Shirley Bruno, half siblings, Sally Martus, Clifford Nickerson, and Laura Brittingham, predeceased by Peg McCauley, Peter Nickerson, step-sister Pat Harlfinger, and half-brother David Nickerson. Bob loved everyone in the family tree related to him.
In lieu of flowers or plants sent to the home, please hold dear the memory of Bob for his friendship and kindness. You may donate to American Heart Association instead of sending flowers please. He will be sadly missed.
All are welcome to calling hours on Monday, December 29th from 2-4 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral service on Tuesday, December 30th at 10 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl St., Brockton.
