Robert B. Hunter

Robert B. Hunter, 76, of Whitman for the past 46 years, passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2023. A native of Saugus, he was the son of the late Paul N. and Millicent (Broderick) Hunter. Bob made a career in insurance, working for John Hancock for over 40 years, retiring as field supervisor. After his retirement, Bob went on to work in the funeral business as an assistant, most recently for Waitt Funeral Home.

An avid Boston Bruins fan, Bob enjoyed dining out with his wife, socializing with friends, and traveling, especially to Aruba and The Bahamas. He also loved trips up to Maine with his brother-in-law.

Bob was the life of any party and had a great sense of humor. He had a quick wit and an easy way about him. Bob was a dedicated grandfather and cherished the time spent with his granddaughter making lasting memories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bob was the dear husband of Annie M. (Martin) Hunter for 46 years; loving father of Jason Hunter (and Jamie Snyder) and Matthew Hunter, all of Whitman and the late Nicole Hunter; devoted Grampy of Sophie, who was his best pal; brother of Paul Hunter and his wife Anne of Marblehead; close brother-in-law of John Martin and his late wife Susan of Marshfield; and an uncle of many. Bob also leaves his beloved dog Nikki.

All are welcome to Bob’s celebration of life on Friday, October 20th from 5-7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton. Private committal.
