Robert Haraldstad Obituary

Robert N. Haraldstad, a long-time Brockton resident, died on December 28, 2025. He leaves a loving family and friends who admired his kindness, his many talents and his varied interests. Bob was born at Quincy Hospital in 1933 and grew up in the towns of Hanson and Whitman. His parents, the late Andrew Olaf and Amelia (Larson) Haraldstad, raised three sons, including Roy and Andrew, who are deceased. After attending Whitman High School, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at the Spangdahlem Air Base in Spangdahlem, Germany. He became a skilled mechanic who specialized in the B-26, the bomber that was used extensively during World War II.

After completing his military service, Bob moved home and took a job specializing in the repair of motors and performing other electrical work at the former Brockton Industrial. He soon met Donna Lewis through mutual friends; family members recall Bob driving his father’s Hudson Hornet when he picked her up for dates. Bob and Donna, who died in 2023, were married in 1962. They moved into the home on Drew Avenue where Donna had grown up. The family soon included daughters Brenda, Sharon and Debra, along with several much-loved dogs and cats. Bob’s technical talents led to a position at the Silver Lake Water Filtration Plant, which served as the water department for Brockton and the surrounding towns. Bob worked there for 33 years. The Haraldstad family often camped around New England and went fishing on their boat, named “The Brensha” after their first two daughters. Bob loved fishing, biking and birdwatching. He was fascinated by the weather and tracked the daily weather for five years. Bob and Donna enjoyed many happy summers at Peter’s Pond in Sandwich. When Donna’s health deteriorated, the loving couple moved to an assisted living residence.

Bob leaves his daughters, Brenda (Bourne) and Sharon (Braintree); Debra died in 2021. He also leaves his grandson, Michael Agresta (Brockton), and great-granddaughter, Lillian Renee Agresta, along with nieces, nephews and dear friends.
