Rita M. (Urenas) Garland, 90, of High Pond Estates in Bridgewater since 1986, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. Born and raised in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton High School. Rita was a bookkeeper for many years and later worked for Sears. She loved spending time with her family and watching television, reading, dining out with friends, and vacations to Florida, Maine, and Cape Cod.
Rita was the beloved wife of James W. Garland Sr. for 43 years; she will be deeply missed by her devoted daughter Cheryl Ann and son-in-law Bobby Krilovich of Worcester, and she was the mother of the late Glenn J. Marconi. Rita also leaves Jim’s family: children, grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was the sister of the late Alfred Urenas and Stacia Rutkauskas; and was a close lifelong aunt of several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
All are welcome to visitation on Friday, January 23rd from 10-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
