Richard F. Hughes

Richard F. Hughes, 68, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care after a prolonged illness. Born in Brockton, a son of the late Harold and Barbara (Samson) Hughes, he graduated from Brockton High School and Massasoit Community College. Richard was retired from the Brockton Board of Health since 2014, after employment as a health inspector for the city for 17 years. He was a fan of Cher and had attended many of her concerts. The Tommy Lee Jones film “Finest Kind” on Paramount Plus had filmed scenes in the driveway of his home in Brockton. Richard enjoyed Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics games and caring for his 4 cats. He was the beloved husband of Lisa (Beaucaire) Hughes since 1988, loving father of Stephen Hughes and his wife Joanna of Billerica, brother of Robert Hughes and his wife Mary of Halifax and the late John Hughes, son-in-law of Shirley Beaucaire and brother-in-law of the late Mark Beaucaire. His family wishes to thank Brockton VNA and Hospice for their support and excellent care. All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday September 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, his funeral Thursday September 5th at 9:30 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home, funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West St. Brockton and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
