Richard T. Werner, 78, of Abington, formerly of Bridgewater, passed away March 23, 2021 at home under hospice care with his family close by after a long illness with Lewy Body disease. Native of Brockton, he was a son of the late Robert and Janet (Smith) Werner. Richard was employed by the Brockton Housing Authority for 27 years and also worked the parking lot at Raynham-Taunton Greyhound Park and for security at the Brockton Fair. Dick preferred to be called “Doc” and was known for his sense of humor and one-liners. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed playing golf at White Pines Golf Course and watching golf for the past ten years. “Doc” loved to socialize, take outdoor walks, listen to music, cook and eat. Dick was the beloved husband of Clare (Cobb) Werner for 48 years; loving father of Kim Corbett and Jeff Werner; dear grandfather of Alyssa Hutchinson and her husband Joseph and Cassie Weber; great-grandfather of Julia and soon-to-arrive Joseph Hutchinson; brother of his twin Bob Werner and his wife Ann of West Bridgewater and the late Ken Werner; brother-in-law of Marlene Schwotzer and her late husband Paul, Charlie Cobb and his wife Jeannie, Cathy Pasionek and her husband Robert, Danny Cobb and his wife Alexa, and the late Mary Valliere; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Saturday, March 27th from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance at 1:30 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton.
