Richard L. Gordon, 89, of Brockton since 1977, native of Malden, passed away on April 25, 2023. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Richard worked for the M.B.T.A. in the revenue department for many years until retirement. Richard was an active communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and volunteered for a local food pantry.
Richard enjoyed caring for his family and home, especially landscaping and flower gardening. Blessed with a good sense of humor, his big heart always went out to those most in need. He loved dancing, playing cards, socializing, and playing golf. He had a sweet nature and a loving heart, and was beloved by all who knew him.
Richard was the devoted husband of the late Sally A. (Fuller) Gordon for 60 years; loving father of Jean Gordon (and Lori Maynard) of Brockton, Kathleen Gordon (and Scott McLeod) of East Taunton, and Brian Gordon (and Catherine Hollyer) of Lawrence, Kansas; dear grandfather of Max, Phoebe, Millie and Ike; dedicated owner of his adored senior dog Kenny; brother of the late Ralph Gordon, Marie Patterson and Rita Griffin; and an uncle and great-uncle of several nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to calling hours on Monday, May 1st from 4-7 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral from Waitt Funeral Home on Tuesday May 2nd at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
