Phyllis L. (Morrill) Chani

Phyllis L. (Morrill) Chani, 88, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away on September 12, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Asa W. and Marion (Duncklee) Morrill. She was a dedicated switchboard operator for Cardinal Cushing General Hospital for 40 years before her retirement. Phyllis was a longtime member of Christ Congregational Church, UCC and sang in the choir there for many years. She enjoyed gardening and played the piano in her youth.

Phyllis was the beloved mother of Marian Chani Padenski and her husband Stephen of East Sandwich, Glenn W. Chani of Brockton, and Paul M. Chani of Brockton; loving grandmother of Ryan M. Conefrey and his wife Melanie, Adam M. Conefrey and his wife Alexandra Lund, and Bret M. Conefrey and his wife Ashley; dear great-grandmother of Charlotte, Madison, Odin, and Ayla.

Respectfully, funeral services and burial are private. In keeping with Phyllis’ great love of animals, memorial gifts may be made to Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1300 W. Elm St. Ext., Brockton, MA 02301.
