Peter Vance Crone Sr., 81, of Avon, MA, passed away on March 14, 2024, after a sudden decline. He was a retired police lieutenant serving the community of Brockton, MA with honors for over 30 years. Prior to joining the force, Peter served in the Navy and remained an active member of the Association of Naval Aviation. After retiring, he joined the faculty of Massasoit Community College as an adjunct professor teaching sociology, criminology, terrorism, and more. Additionally, Peter was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution, serving as Treasurer of the Robert Treat Paine chapter. He also had a life-long love of hockey and played into his seventies as Captain of the Black and Blues Police Hockey Team, where he had the pleasure of playing in Russia, Canada, and against the Boston Bruins alumni team.
Peter was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Karen (Shea) Crone. He is survived by his son Peter Crone Jr. and his wife Angela, his daughter Donna Crone, grandchildren Shea and Elva, brother James Crone, sister Margaret (Crone) Riordan, nieces, nephew, and many cousins.
All are welcome to calling hours Tues., March 19th from 3-7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, his funeral Mass Wed., March 20th at 10:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton, and burial at St. Michael Cemetery, East Spring St., Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
