Pamela J. (Dargie) Byrd, 67, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2025 after a lengthy period of declining health. Despite her health challenges, Pamela never complained or gave up and fought valiantly until the end. Born in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late Barbara (Dinn) and Philip Ernest Dargie Jr. A 1975 graduate of Brockton High School, she later graduated from Cosmetology School in 1980 and enjoyed hairdressing.
Devoted to her faith, Pamela loved going to church and praying with her friends and pastor. She enjoyed shopping, fishing, and reconnecting with old friends on Facebook. Pamela was talented at knitting and crocheting, making many blankets for family and friends to enjoy. Her family was important to her, and she loved trips to Nantucket to see her sister Patty. She also loved painting with her husband, working side by side cherishing the memories made.
Pamela was the devoted wife of John L. Byrd for 33 years; loving mother of Shannon Dargie and her partner Sam Watkins of Brockton; cherished grandmother of Shalese McNeil Dargie, Samone Watkins, and Shaniya Watkins; great-grandmother of Alina Watkins; beloved sister of Denise Desimone of Brockton, Doreen Hebden of Fort Meyers, FL, Dolores Auger of Brockton, Philip Dargie III of Middleboro, and the late Patricia Dargie; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rest in heaven Pamela. Respectfully, funeral services are private.
