Otis J. Singleton, 32, of Brockton, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2020. Born in Boston, he was the beloved son of Yvonne M. Garrett-Singleton of Brockton and the late Otis Singleton. Otis attended New England Baptist Academy, West Bridgewater from K-Grade 11, then graduating from Grace Baptist Academy Attleboro. During his junior year of high school Lil O, as he was affectionately called became a student ambassador through the People to People Program in Beijing, China. Also, before college he took a gap year and expanded his knowledge of the world and gained a wealth of caring experience through the CITY YEAR CORP. In 2011 Otis graduated from AIC American International College Springfield, MA with a degree in sociology and a minor in physiology.
Otis Jarel had an effervescent personality, infectious laughter and a warm and caring disposition. He had an appetite to “read real books” and relaxed with Netflix and video games. He held many different positions and jobs from South Bay Mental Health, Macy’s, Amazon and the American Red Cross. His current employer was Triangle, Inc. where he advocated and mentored individuals with disabilities, he will be sorely missed.
Besides his loving and devoted mother Yvonne Garrett-Singleton, Otis Jarel leaves to cherish his memory, Aunts Rev. Lorraine (Narone) Land of Camden N.J., Denise Garrett of Philadelphia PA, adopted “aunt” Rev. Flora “Tink” (Arthur) Johnson of New Castle, DE, Uncles Ernest (Karen) Garrett of Philadelphia PA, Elder Jessie (Elder Queen Esther) Singleton Sr. of Hampton SC, Rodell Singleton of Estill, SC, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
