Oscar Lee McNeil Obituary

Oscar Lee McNeil of Brockton Massachusetts was blessed to experience 101 years on this earth, and we are grateful. Oscar was born in Moncks Corner, South Carolina on May 24, 1924, to Thomas and Daisy McNeil. As a young man, he joined the armed forces and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. After his departure from the Navy, Oscar met and married Ernestine (Williams) McNeil and eventually moved to Brockton, Massachusetts where they raised their ten (10) children. Oscar was a well-respected and good-natured person who easily made many friends wherever he went.

As the owner of “Oscar Construction Company, Inc.”, he became known for his masonry skills. Oscar left an impeccable impression of his skillfulness as a Master Brick Mason throughout New England. As one of the pillars of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, he worked diligently in serving God and others. The Bible teaches in Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goes.”. Oscar did just that. His hands were always busy as he served in many capacities at Full Gospel Tabernacle. Not only did he serve spiritually but also used his talents to serve in a physical capacity. He provided guidance and spiritual advice as a Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Deacon Board and Minister of the Gospel. Oscar offered professional advice, employed his masonry and construction skills and made many repairs and renovations at the church and the fellowship hall.

On August 30, 2025, Oscar’s appointed time came; God called Oscar’s name, and said, “well done my good and faithful servant” and welcomed him into his eternal heavenly home. Oscar’s wife, the lovely Ernestine McNeil preceded him in death, and he leaves to carry on his legacy their ten children, heirs and his one remaining sibling, James McNeil. Oscar will be immensely missed by his family, yet as we remain, we realize “All tomorrows belong to God.”
