Orlando J. "Cappy" DaSilva

Orlando J. “Cappy” DaSilva, retired Brockton Police Department Detective, 97, of West Yarmouth, passed away on February 10, 2026. A native of Brockton, he was the son of the late Miguel and Maria (Mendosa) DaSilva. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII as a seaman first class.

In addition to his 32 years serving on the police and a term as a city councilor, he was a master pipefitter and the owner and operator of Cappy Plumbing & Heating. He enjoyed his time spent in West Yarmouth, hunting, fishing, quahogging, and gardening. Cappy was a member of the Bertocci Club, Polish White Eagles, 100 Club, and former Vice President of the Conte Memorial Club.

Cappy was the beloved husband of Margery A. (Johnson) DaSilva for 77 years; loving father of Ann Marie Forbes of Carver, Susan C. Johnson of Middleboro, Margery A. “Margie” Studenski of Carver, Michael J. DaSilva and his wife Lynne of Franklin, and Thomas O. DaSilva of Carver; cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother of the late Joseph, Leon, Max, and Michael DaSilva; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours on Tues., Feb. 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a 12 p.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 95 N.
