Norma Katherine Gear

Norma Katherine Gear passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on June 28th, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Katherine (MacAuley) and James Gear, as well as her brothers, Jimmy, Billy, and Ray. She is survived by her daughters, Lissa (Fernandez) Carlino and Tiffaney (Fernandez) Sergio. She was a dear mother-in-law to Paul Carlino (deceased) and Samuel Sergio Jr.; the proud grandmother of Samuel Sergio III, Dallis Sergio, Savanna Carlino, and Sophia Carlino; and a loving great-grandmother to Alessandra and Ella.

Norma graduated from Dorchester High School in 1962 and went on to dedicate more than 35 years of her life to serving others as a night shift ward coordinator on the labor and delivery floor at Boston Medical Center. Her schedule allowed her the precious opportunity to help raise her grandchildren during the day. After retiring, she continued her lifelong commitment to caring for others by supporting aging seniors in the Brockton area.

When she wasn't working or nurturing her family, Norma found peace in the simple pleasures of home life. She thrived on keeping things neat and organized, finding satisfaction in tasks like laundry, cleaning, and tidying up. She delighted in the quiet joy of sitting on her porch with the sun warming her face, a cigarette in hand, and catching up with old friends on the phone. Whether floating in the pool, reading a good book, watching TV, or indulging in her favorite ice cream, Norma found contentment in life's small, cherished moments.

In her later years, Norma was diagnosed with dementia. Although the memories of a beautiful life gradually faded, she continued to cherish the warm embrace of friends and family, finding comfort whenever she was surrounded by conversation and laughter. She never stopped absorbing the love coming from those around her, always giving it back in equal measure.

We will miss Norma dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts. Forever our angel.

Visitation will be held at the Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton on Sunday, July 6th, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a brief memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
