Nancy D. Ianiri, 92, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died on Saturday, June 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 25, 1926 in Brockton, a daughter of the late Florence and Annibale Ianiri. Nancy’s life was devoted to her family and she loved all her time spent with them; she was the cherished sister of Mary Ruggiero and the late Jean Oksuzian; sister-in-law of the late Ralph G. Ruggiero and late Paul Oksuzian; beloved aunt of Dianne Ruggiero, the late Maureen (Ruggiero) Cram, Ralph Ruggiero, Joanne (Ruggiero) Gordon, and her late husband Michael Gordon, Fred Cram and his wife, Barbara Cram; proud great aunt of Ryan Gordon and his husband, Adrian Gonzalez Cerrillo, and Rachel Gordon. She was also a dear cousin of the Porazzo family who graciously showered her with 90th birthday wishes from across the country and a lifelong friend of Gloria Cesarini and Carol Lawn. Nancy graduated from Brockton High School in 1944. While in school, Nancy began working at George Knight and Company for several years. She then began a career in the Human Resources Department of Bay State Gas Company where she was employed for 27 years until her retirement and had many fond memories of her work there. An avid reader, having built her own library collection of over 1,000 books, she also worked for Brockton Public Library after retirement. She was an avid bowler and a member of several bowling leagues at The Westgate Lanes for over 60 years, serving as secretary of the Brockton Senior Bowling League for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, Japanese Bunka, cooking, and playing cards with her Tuesday night card club for over 50 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and charity was an important part of Nancy’s life. She was a dedicated supporter of multiple charities including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, WGBH, Greenpeace, Oxfam, and World Wildlife Federation among others. All are welcome to calling hours Thursday 3-6 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, her funeral Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Calvary Cemetery. Donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
