Micheline “Michou” (Emilien) Jean, 64, of Brockton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 4, 2025. Born and raised in Carice, Haiti, she was the cherished daughter of Marie Abdonne (Audate) Emilien of Haiti and the late Julio Emilien.
Michou’s caring nature led to a lengthy career as a dedicated nurse. She cared deeply for others, especially for children and family, while also aspiring to one day open an orphanage. Her love for family ran so deep and she never missed an opportunity to express it. One of Michou’s greatest joys was preparing delicious meals for everyone. She had a great sense of humor, and her liveliness was always present during the spirited card game Basick. She enjoyed playing with family, especially her husband, who would sometimes even resort to cheating since she was so skilled! She was a mother to so much more than her children, and a sister to many more people than her siblings.
Micheline was a profound woman of God, and the beloved wife of Edwidge Jean; devoted mother of Jacques Matellus, Edwidge Jean III, Don Jonathan Edwidge Jean II, and Isaac L. Jean; grandmother of Maziwa Iris Smith Jean; sister of Joseph Rene Emilien, Marie Gladys Horat, Nicole Nicolas, Claude Emilien, Justin Emilien, Judite Emilien Eugene, and the late Julienne Emilien; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to visitation on Saturday, October 18th from 8:30-10 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl St., Brockton. Live streaming of Micheline’s funeral will be available.
