Michael D. FitzSimmons

Michael D. FitzSimmons, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away on October 17, 2025 on his 72nd birthday. For over 50 years he was a tradesman and member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 276 in Brockton then Local 51 in Providence RI. After courses at U. Mass Boston he taught in the apprentice program of Local 51.

Michael was an avid reader and sports fan. In his youth he played volleyball and his team made it to the Bay State Games. He coached Little League and Youth Football.  

For the last 13 years he spent time at his summer home on Lake Carmi in Franklin VT where he enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Michael was the beloved husband of Jane (Dunford) FitzSimmons for 52 years, loving father of Aaron (and Erin) FitzSimmons of Swanton VT, Ryan (and Stephanie) FitzSimmons of Brockton, Mark FitzSimmons of Brockton, dear grandfather of Alex and Sophie FitzSimmons, Alessia, Carson and Coleman Corbiere, brother of Susan (and Dan) Burns of Enosburg VT, Carol (and Richard) Fontinha of Marshill ME, James FitzSimmons of West Bridgewater, Julie Chartier (and George Tavares) of Hadley, Ann (and William) Tucker of Barrington NH, Joseph (and Jennifer) FitzSimmons of St. Albans VT, Janet (and Paul) Wells, and Mary FitzSimmons (and Rick Bence) of Swansea, and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday October 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and his funeral service on Wednesday October 22nd at 10 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home followed by burial at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
