Michael C. Gillis Sr.

Michael C. Gillis Sr., 63, of Brockton passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 after a recent diagnosis of cancer at HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence RI. Born and raised in Brockton, Michael was the beloved son of the late Alex and Linda Gillis.

He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1980. He was employed by Shaw’s Supermarket in Canton and various other stores over the past 30 years. 

He is survived by his two sons: Michael Gillis Jr. (Stephanie) and his adored grandson Mason of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Andrew Gillis of Troy, Montana; by his siblings Cathy Powers and her husband Mike of Stuart, Florida, Donna Wolffe and her husband William of Bridgewater, and David Gillis of Orlando, Florida and was predeceased by his sister AnnMarie Gillis.

Michael was a hard worker. He loved his boys and had enjoyed trips to Montana with them camping and hiking. He loved the beach. He was a New England sports fan. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends.

All are welcome to memorial calling hours Saturday April 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. Private burial.
