Michael T. Shea, 74, of Wareham, passed away on March 28, 2026. Born and raised in Dorchester’s Fields Corner to the late Catherine J. (Sullivan) Shea and Edward T. Shea, Mike graduated from Old English High School and resided many years in Brockton with his family before moving to Wareham.
A master carpenter and natural-born fixer, Mike worked for Boston Whaler and the Charlestown Navy Yard restoring buildings and ships for his early career before going out on his own. He took pride in having worked to restore the USS Constitution and could recite its history when asked. Mike could turn a sketch, a scrap, or the vaguest of ideas into something solid and beautiful. He was ambidextrous and incredibly talented.
Mike loved the simple pleasures: fishing, documentaries on history and space, a cold Pepsi, good company and the frequent Irish goodbye. While he loved us all, he liked being home with his dog more. He doted on his fur children.
He liked to laugh, blast "his music" and giving his view on any situation. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed; we’re confident he’s making heaven a little more interesting.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa M. Shea of Brockton; former wife Cathrine A. (Millett) Shea of Brockton; siblings Maureen DeWitt, Rusty Shea and his wife, Karen of Wareham, Gary Shea and his wife Sue of East Bridgewater, Edward Shea and his wife Michelle of Halifax, and Jackie Shea and her wife Donna of Brockton; his niece and Godchild Lorraine Pigeon and her husband Mark, niece Kim Dalton-Rubeski and her husband Scott; niece Courtney Madden and her husband Frank and niece Kaitlin Shea; Nephews Derek Dewitt and his wife Heather, Gregory Shea and his wife Ali, Patrick Shea and his wife Laura. He was loved and will be missed by his grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Catherine J. Dalton.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are invited to memorial calling hours on Monday, April 6th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. In continuing the celebration of Mike's life all are welcome to Tommy Doyle's Pub, 235 East Ashland St. Brockton.
