Michael J. Rice

Michael J. Rice, 57, of Brockton, died on May 21, 2020. Born in Boston, he was the loving son of the late John F. and Marie (Dillon) Rice. Raised in Weymouth, he was a graduate of Weymouth High School. Michael went on to earn a degree from The State University of New York. Dedicated to helping others, Mike had a long career in social services, most recently as a social worker for Catholic Charities. In the 1990s, he did extensive volunteer work for Mobile Aids Resource Team. He also did volunteer work with The Peace Corps, living in South America for some time. Despite his own health issues and challenges with Cerebral Palsy, Mike lived his life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed. Michael was the beloved longtime companion of William L. “Bill” Darwin; brother of John Rice and his wife Kathy, Andrew Rice and his wife Evelyn, Brian Rice and his wife Tammy, and the late Kevin Rice; son-in-law of Ruth Darwin; brother-in-law of Cathy Jackson and her husband Miles, and Dr. Rev. Coralotta Darwin; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s name may be made to your favorite charity.
