Michael Anthony Nauls, 66, of Spring, Texas, and a longtime resident of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to Eula Mae (Henry) Nauls and the late George Nauls, he and his family lived in Roxbury before moving to Brockton in 1968. He attended Ashfield School, then East Junior High School, and spent his senior year at George Washington Carver High School in Houston. He graduated in 1977. He remained fiercely loyal, however, to Brockton! Michael played football for Pop Warner, Ashfield Jets, Stall & Dean Youth Football, and Brockton High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he was the head of the Black Student Union.
Michael lived in Washington, D.C. where he did community work alongside local activists and Mayor Marion Barry. He later lived in Florida, and then in Texas for many years, and was a commercial truck driver in the transportation industry. He became a quadriplegic in April of 2011 after a tragic accident while bicycling. Michael continued to show his love of sports by favoring the New England teams, and as a passionate debater, he also enjoyed watching political news.
In addition to his loving mother, Eula, he leaves his beloved siblings, Jacqueline Jones of Brockton, Barbara Santos-Silva of Boston, and Gwendolyn Nauls of Brockton, three generations of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins spanning the country.
All are welcome to calling hour Thursday June 26th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by his 10:30 a.m. funeral service all at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and burial at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Live streaming of Michael's funeral will be available.
